In July, I was interviewed by SD Voyager Magazine as part of their feature on San Diego's Most Inspiring Stories (!). Needless to say, I was humbled and honored that they chose me!
And in the spirit of sharing, I thought I'd give a snapshot of the interview.
One of the questions they asked me was if I had any recommended books, apps, blogs, etc. that help me do my best in life. And as someone who is always looking to do my best, I'd love to share my responses.
Q: Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
Some book favs: A House of My Own by Sandra Cisneros; Grit by Angela Duckworth; Dare to Lead by Brené Brown; Buy Yourself the F*cking Lilies by Tara Schuster; and Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott.
One exceptional workshop I attended during my career transition was called “Designing Your Life (DYL).” Most commonly, design thinking is used for new product development, but in this workshop, the product is your life. We learned things like brainstorming different versions of your life and prototyping some ideas. It was born out of Stanford University and there are now a few DYL books about the principles.
Maybe one of these resources resonated with you? If so, I'd definitely support you following your interest and checking them out :) This was a short list, but in future blog articles I can expand upon some of these categories (especially the book recs).
